IntelliMouse w/Tilt Wheel

Just bought intelliMouse 4.0 w/tilt wheel.(wired)mouse
will not focus on the window I move it to without having
to click first. the mouse reacts differently per
application. Eample: in windows explorer I have to click
the mouse button when I move from the directory side to
the file window side, yet if I'm in outlook express
the mouse works fine.
I'm running XP Pro, plugged into PS/2 port.

FWIW, the behaviour you describe is "by design".

It use to be installing the Intellipoint software would give you the
behaviour you desire, however, even that is intermittent at best (IIRC it
last worked reliably in Intellipoint 3.xx)
