tilt wheel problems

I'm having problems with my new microsoft wireless mouse.

The tilt wheel has stopped working and i'm wondering if
it's something that i am doing wrong. pages just don't
scroll side to side anymore.

This is the second one i've had after i sent the first
one back because of the tilt wheel, this new one seemed
to work for about a day and then died.

Has anyone got any suggestions or am i just unlucky?
