Intellimouse sudden power cuts

Hi,
I have a USB Microsoft Intellimouse explorer and every now and again I
will lose power to the mouse (the red glow goes off)... most of the time it
comes back on within a few seconds but othertimes I need to reboot.... I am
running Windows XP... any idea as to why this is happening and any remedy?

Go into the DEVICE MANAGER and select the USB port that the mouse is
connected to and make sure that XP doesn't have a check mark in the box to
allow it to shut down USB devices to save power.
