intellimouse explorer software

Hi

I just got an MS wireless intellimouse explorer. When I
try to load the software it says it needs to uninstall my
previous pointing device software first. This is the
software for my laptop touchpad, so I'm not getting rid
of that. Any ideas on what I can do to get round this?

Solution: Don't install the MS software. Just plug in the mouse. You will
find that it works fine. Go into Control Panel and change the number of
mouse buttons.

(Makes you wonder why MS supplied the software in the first place.)
