Intel Processor Comparison

I have a question about processors. I apologize if it is a bit off the
subject, and would welcome a pointer to the correct newsgroup.

If I had a choice between a Pentium 4 and a Celeron, which is better? Why?

You always have a choice.

Which is better depends on by what standard? Quality of
design and construction are equal.

A P4 has more cache and newest versions have
hyperthreading. The P4 will out perform a Celeron but cost
more money.

If you don't do intensive processes, a Celeron will do the
job, just a bit slower for less money.

any math ( floating point ) spread sheets, Databases,
graphics forget the celery-on......... The rest probably
ok, less heat and power to run.

A P4 is faster than a Celeron, but also more expensive.

It seems like they are afraid of comparing their processors.

As far as I can tell, it looks like Xeon's are intended for dual-processor
applications. Are there any other differences?
