Intel Graphics Question

Hi Everyone,
I need to know whether the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 is
capable of running Windows Aero and Flip 3D features in Vista. Here is a
summary of the Acer Aspire 420 notebook from Best Buy.

Acer Aspire Notebook with Intel® Celeron® M Processor 420
Model: AS3680-2022

Graphics Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950
Video Memory Up to 224MB (shared)

Hi Scott,

If you actually have the notebook, run the Vista Upgrade Advisor from
Microsoft, and it will give a list of any problems you will have upgrading
to
Vista, as well as any drivers you need to get before upgrading. While
not perfect, it's a very, very useful utillity, well worth finding and
installing if you want to use Vista.

Thanks Larry but I don't have the notebook yet. I am deciding on buying it
but I want to know if it is able to run Vista Aero and Flip 3D.

I assume your Aspire is a 3680 series by your model number

Please take the time to read the Acer windows Vista upgrade
instructions prior to any installation.

Hi Scott, To be honest with you I wouldn't buy an Acer system at all. Through
experience and experience of others they are nothing but crap. If you are
intent on buying a notebook/laptop I would get one with as much memory as
possible as the shared video memory can really degrade the overall running of
the machine. If you can afford something with at least 2 gig ram that would
be the way to go.

true true... but i can confurm that YES it does do all the vista premium
features as i have one!

I'm running the Intel 945GM in my VAIO laptop (which I would assume is
very similar) and don't have any issues running Aero/flip.
