Intallation Problem

Hi everybody, hope some of you could help.

I recently downloaded Windows Defender (I orginally wanted Antispyware
knowing it was a good program from getting rid of spyware).

Anyway, I started installing and well, it doesn't. After going through the
configuration menus upto the point where you sit and wait, it does nothing
(here is a link to the print screen image of where it stops)

Anyway, my computer meets the system requirements (3GHz Processor, 1GB RAM
etc) I installed SP2 after formating my PC due to a nasty virus a week ago
(though I didn't want to, usually everytime I've installed SP2, I've had
nothing but trouble with it....I hope there won't be another problem....)

My version of Windows that I have is Windows XP Home Edition SP1a but I've
got all the current updates for it.

Hello Stefan,

you must be updated to SP2, to get WD to install!

Stefan--you want all critical updates, not just SP2.

Go to Windows Update, do an express scan, and apply everything offered. Do
that again until nothing is offered.

That said, it may well be that your issue is your antivirus app--shut down
real-time protection in the antivirus for the duration of the install.

I need to remember that certain Nvidia drivers may also cause installation
issues--so check that detail.
