Insufficent System Resources

After periods of inactivity, I will find a message on my
screen indicating that my Internet connection has been
disconnected. When I click OK, I get another message
saying that I have "insufficient system resources" and my
computer is basically locked up. I have to reboot in
order to run a program, use the internet, etc.

Any ideas on how to eliminate this problem?

Well it would be very helpful if you would provide information on your
hardware and software you are using if you expect any kind of answer. Plus,
if this only happens with your internet connection your provider may give
you some insight.
