InstallShield/Palm Zire 71

I had to uninstall my palm desktop. When I went to
reinstall it, the disc wouldn't do it with an error:
"1607:Unable to install InstallShield scripting runtime"
I went to the Palm site and their suggestion was to go to
Windows Update and get InstallShield updated, as all other
methods didn't work (even though it works fine when I
uninstall other things).
Went to Windows Update and was downloading the update
(which is on top of the updates I get every one to two
weeks that eat up ALL of my memory), and get a Low Memory
reminder that it's at a Critical level of 79MB!! So I
cancel it and go to Control Panel and uninstall what had
been installed so my computer doesn't die. I uninstall it
and in the process am told that now no programs in my
computer are going to work. I've gotten my aol, word and
excel to work after a lot of tweaking, but I'm afraid that
I might've lost all my other updates.

So now I'm still at 179 MB memory, my computer doesn't
think it works, I still can't install my palm desktop
(because it says my InstallShield is broken), which I need
so I can sync my palm to aol to update my calendar and
updates to keep my extended family up to speed on wedding
dates coming up.
