I am using Windows XP SP2 with current updates, I have no viruses or
spyware, and keep my computer clean of such malicious programs. I am
trying to patch my Battlefield 2 game to 1.22, and when I click the
setup.exe, I get an error that says to close all applications, clear
the temp files and to retry, but I did that and I still get the error,
at the botton of the error notification it says Error -6005 (or -5006,
I forgot since I deleted the .exe thinking it was a bad setup exe). How
can I fix this rediculous error?

Ok, I downloaded the patch again froma different source, directly from
EA Games, and now I get the stupid windows error reporting message. I
am also having trouble installing Creative Mediasource for my external
SOund Blaster sound card and newer drivers (seperate Installshield
..exe's), and all 3, the patch, the new drivers and the music program,
wont install becasue I get that stupid Windows error reporting message
(I sent the report, as usual). Can someone help me out here?

Ok I was able to install HijackThis and a game, but I went to install Google Talk and a free internet game called Well of Souls, and both are unable to install. it stops and the Windows error reporting thing pops up. So I am pretty much still where i was, having severe trouble installing anything.

Ok I was able to install HijackThis and a game, but I went to install
Google Talk and a free internet game called Well of Souls, and both are
unable to install. it stops and the Windows error reporting thing pops
up. So I am pretty much still where i was, having severe trouble
installing anything. I even went so far as to try to reinstall Windows
but when I tried to do so it said that there was a file that was in use
and it couldnt install, so I booted from teh win XP disk, and I chose
to repair the installed win XP, it then asked for the administrator
password, so I put in my login password (I am the only user and am
therefor the admin by default), but it kept saying that the password
could not be verified, and after 3 tries it said "failed to verify
password 3 times, hit enter to restart", so it restarted the computer.
OH MY GOD, I try to fix one problem and more problems stop me from
fixing the original problem. Can someone PLEASE HELP?

I believe you have exhausted the amount of help you can get from people
who cannot see your computer. Either back up your data and do a clean
install or take the machine to a local professional (not a
BigStoreUSA).

It would be smart to do some hardware diagnostics before the clean
install.

Im sorry for not including this, but I had dont a clean install, and it
had not fixed the problem, that's why I opted for a recovery option
instead. As for hardware diagnostics, what program do you suggest?
