Installing

Be patient with a non-technical type, but I tried to install the Antivirus
software and it says that it needs to be updated. This is a new download for
me. Why would MS not have the latest update on the dowload site. When you try
to update it does not work. If someone can tell me how to get around this in
simple terms I would appreciate it. Today is the only day I have off from
work to do updates.

here is the answer to your problem:

open program files and locate your microsoft antispyware folder.

open this folder and locate GIANTantispywareupdater icon (satellite icon)

double click this icon then you should see the updater process appear at the
bottom right corner

accept the update and you should be up and running..

Hi Captain Pugwash
I opened the program files and found the folder has you suggested. The
following screen options appeared Microsoft Antispyware, Microsoft
Antispyware Help, Microsoft Antispyware Update and Microsoft Antispyware
Uninstall. I can't open the first option, and the 3rd option I have already
tried several times with no change in the software. IE it does not update.
Any other suggestions.

lol sorry cyn perhaps i didnt explain it well enough

open my computer folder
open C drive
open program files folder
locate and open microsoft antispyware folder
locate GIANTantispywareupdater icon (satellite icon)
double click this icon

Followed your instructions but the Giant antispyware update file won't open.
Should I just delete the whole program and try another day?

the updater file doesnt actually open it just runs the updater, also you must
be connected to the internet for it to work. i would suggest uninstalling
the program from your add/remove then reinstall and try again.

Don't know what i did but all of a sudden I got an update page. Clicked on it
and the update installed. By accident I did something . Thanks for your help.

Well I spoke to soon the updater page didn't work. I will try to uninstall
and then reinstall. If this doesn't work I will just have to wait a couple of
days and hope that things get worked out.
