Installing XP Using 64 Bit Processor?

Hi

I am looking at upgrading my PC. I am interesting in upgrading to an Athlon
64 bit processor, but I am wondering if XP will install ok with this
processor. I see that there is a 64 bit beta version of XP which is why I'm
asking the question.

The "standard" version of XP will run just fine with the Athlon 64, working
in 32 bit mode.

Unless you have some very special requirements to run 64 bit software (and
if you have to ask about them, then you don't) then I wouldn't worry about
64 bit right now - oh, other than the fact that buying a 64 bit processor
like the Athlon 64 will see you off to a good start when the time does come
to upgrade...

The standard, 32-bit WinXP Pro performs flawlessly on AMD
Athlon64-based systems. That's my current configuration.
