installing XP, should I uninstall ME?

G

Gayle

I don't know whether (and HOW) to uninstall my Windows ME.
Or, should I uninstall it before installing the full
version of XP?
I'm not even close to being a 'techie' I just want my
computer (Gateway) to continue to work right.
TIA

Boot into your BIOS and set the CD-ROM to boot before the Hard drive does,
Then install your XP CD and Reboot, watch the screen closely, and when it
asks if you want to boot from the CD, click any key to do so.
You will be given the choice to Upgrade from ME, or Install to a clean new
harddrive.
If you have a few programs you want to use in XP, do the Upgrade.
Usually a clean install is preferable, because you don't drag a lot of
unnecessary files into XP.

The choice is yours.
