Hello,

I have just had my computer repaired and a new disk drive installed. The OS
that was put in is XP Professional but in Spanish (which I speak so there is
not a huge issue), and would like to re-install it with my previous XP Pro in
English.

When I boot from the disk, it goes through most of the installation, but
then it gives and error message that it cannot find the hard drive.

There is definitly a hard drive in the computer (a Maxtor 6Y080M0). It is
not partitioned beyond the C drive, so I am not sure what the problem is in
reinstalling.

Any help will be appreciated.

Older SATA controller?
Did you press F6 at the beginning of the installation and use the driver
diskette for the SATA controller?

Check with Maxtor's support site for the correct driver for
your SATA drive. You'll need to place this driver on a floppy
disk and have it available early in the installation when your
prompted to hit F6 to install third party drivers.

You might want to take a look here:

Good luck
