installing xp on swappable drive laptop

I am trying to install xp on my laptop. i have reformatted the drive for a clean install. The problem is my laptop is swappable between the floppy and CD-ROM. I am unable to change the BIOS setting to support CD-ROM and therefore use the xp as a boot, because the previous owner password protected it and I don't have the password. I don't want to try and unplug the internal battery it looks too complicated. I need to know what I can do with my floppy to be able to set it up to read the CD-ROM and then swap drives to install the xp CD. any help is appreciated. Thanks

Make sure you download the correct set of disks. If SP1 is included with
your Windows XP CD, download the setup disks for use with SP1.

Greetings --

Why not simply look in the manual, or on the laptop's
manufacturer's web site, to learn how to remove/reset the BIOS
password?
