I have XP installed on my d:\drive. However, c:\ (a new
drive) is my boot drive. I cannot figure out how to
install XP on the c:\drive. When I try to install
directly from the CD-ROM, I get a message that I need to
install Windows 98 on the c:\ drive first (as my XP Home
Edition is an upgrade). When I try to install Windows 98,
it says I must boot from DOS. I can activate the DOS
command prompt, and/or boot from the XP boot disk.
However, in both instances when I try to go to the c:\
drive (from the d:\ drive), I get an error message that
the command is not recognized. Any suggestions as to what
I'm doing wrong and/or need to do? Thanks.

You should not have to install 98 before you install XP, even with a upgrade
version. Boot from the XP CD and partition/format/install. XP install will
ask for a qualifying disk, at which point you insert the 98 CD.

Thanks, Steve. I'll give it a try.
