Installing XP has slowed down my computer

Ever since I upgraded from Windows ME to XP my computer definitely runs
slower. For example, it takes much longer for Word to load, as well as other
programs. I have 256 megs of RAM. Is that enough or is that not the problem

Hi,

256MB is minimal for normal operation. 512MB would be better, as office
applications tend to use a lot of memory.

I'd run XP with a minimum of 512. Upgrading to 1Gb will run Photoshop
operations approx 40-50% faster than with 512Mb, when run on XP.
