I'm trying to figure out how to install XP without using my CD drive.
I know I can simply boot from the XP install disk and go from there.

But what I would like to do is:

Copy my XP disk to a folder (say, winxp) on D drive.
The be able to run the setup from there and format C drive and install
Windows XP to C drive.

I have learned that I can install from D drive, but it installs XP in
addition to ME which I have on C drive.
I then get a boot menu that lets me decide which OS to use.
I was very careful when going through the steps and did not see any option
to format C drive first.

Any suggestions (other than booting from the XP disk) would be very
appreciated.

1. Boot your machine with a Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com.
2. Format drive C:.
3. Run the WinXP setup program from its folder on drive D:.

Why not use XCOPY in xp.Simply format the other drive with a primary
partition, set as slave on the IDE chain, then go to run, type:
XCOPY C:\*.* D: /ch/e/k/r D: being the slave drive,however you can
substitute the letter if its asigned diffrent. Then once started, agree to all
in the DOS window, when its thru, youre done.
