When installing win xp, when the system is copying set up files to hard
drive, I get continuous error messages not being able to copy, i.e.
csseqchk.dll, confsmp.dll. etc.

is there a trick to getting through this to allow the system.

thank you very much.

You must be installing a xp upgrade from an older windows OS.If so,or
even if youre not, install xp cd,boot to xp cd (you might need to adjust for
this in the BIOS,priority boot device or similiar),at xp cd boot menu, select,
install xp,new copy, delete the partition, create one, then xp formats the hd
and does a clean install. This way,the older OS is gone,xp doesnt need or
use it anyway...

Problems copying files or corrupted files during installation are
most often caused by defective, incompatible, or sub-standard hardware;
in order of likelihood, either RAM, the hard drive, or the motherboard.
On very rare occasions the CD drive or installation CD is the problem.

Start with testing the RAM. You might try MemTest86:
http://www.memtest86.com/ It's free. Then you can download and use
Maxtor's hard drive diagnostic utility to test the hard drive. If both
RAM and hard drive test out clean, check with the motherboard
manufacturer for any diagnostic utilities.

Why would you think that? Oh, wait.... You *don't* think, do you?

What utter drivel.
