installing windows xp pro 2002 over windows new home edition

I keep gitting a message that i have a newer version and it wont install but
i like the old xp pro better then the new home edition that came instold with
the new cp .thank you

You will see that message if you upgraded XP Home to Service Pack 1 or 2 and
the version of XP Pro you want to install does not have that service pack.
The solution is to uninstall the service pack, upgrade to XP Pro, then
reinstall the service pack (along with all other critical updates.)

Slipstream (integrate) SP2 into the installation CD or perform a clean
install.

I assume that what you are asking about is how to slipstream. It is
extremely easy to do this. I like Autostreamer, but there are other

This means that your installed OS is at a higher service pack level
than is the WinXP Pro CD you're using. You'll either need to uninstall
SP2 before attempting the upgrade, or try slipstreaming SP2 into the
upgrade.
