Installing Windows XP OEM on a new computer

Rick

The computer I had windows xp installed on crashed and I
kept the hard drive, floppy, cd drives, video card &
modem and threw out the rest of the computer. I now
would like to purchase a new computer and utilize the
drives, etc. including the copy of Windows XP. Can I use
the install CD from this copy of XP and install it and re-
activate it on the new computer without any legal
problems? If so, is it a fairly easy process (reactivate
it via phone or internet)? Thanks for any help in
advance.

OEM versions of Windows XP are tied to the first computer
it was installed and activated on. When your old computer
bit the dust, so did your OEM license. You'll need to purchase
a new copy of Windows XP. If you want to avoid this issue
in the future, purchase a "retail version" of Windows XP.
