installing windows package

hi people,
can anybody help me, i recently bought a second hand computer of a collegue
of mine. its good quality etc... except one thing . after awhile i found out
that the copy of windows was not genuine. a pop up block keeps coming
insisting i get a genuine copy. i was getting one and someone said to me that
i need all the drivers etc off my computer to install it only thing is ,is
that i dont have the discs... is this true or can i install a new genuine
copy without the drivers and discs. please help. thanks
