Because i know that there will be newest security patches
after few weeks, and many people complain that the newest
service pack 2 make their computer worses to use.

if we do not upgrade the sp2, can we protect ourselves
from everything??

that is the key question ..

Of course you can! If you are depending on MS for your security you are
being foolish!

No - without SP2 you will not be as "protected" as someone up to date with
all patches and using all the features and functionality of SP2.

Remember that if you are basing your impression of SP2 on what you see in
these newsgroups then remember that this is a peer to peer support newsgroup
and as some other poster said it is like sitting in the ER/Casualty
department of a busy hospital, if all you see are injuries and illness do
you assume the entire population is ill or injured.
There are millions of users out there who have deployed and are using SP2
without any issues at all.
Just follow all the advice and guidance about ensuring your PC is ready for
SP2, take a full verifiable backup (so you can recover just in case) and
install.
