Hi folks,
just thought I'd put my two cents worth in on the subject of XP's SP 2
sense so much is being said both pro and con about it at the moment. I
downloaded the Network version and burned it to a CD. I reinstalled XP
off a retail CD. Once the new install was completed, before I did
anything else, I ran the SP2 CD and upgraded my OS from no service
pack or hot fixes to SP2. I've had NO PROBLEMS with this system sense
the upgrade. I think this is the best way to use and install the
latest service pack. I know that a lot of you will not want to do a
fresh install of XP but it will pay off in the long run. In the past,
I've noticed that both Win 2000 and XP struggles with big installs off
the Windows update site. If you do as I advise, you will be installing
from your desktop with no apps running and things will just go
smoother for you. Good Luck, Axel.
