I posted yesterday, this is what it said:

When I try to install Adobe Photoshop Elements i cant. I put the disk in and
I get this msg saying "AutoPlay encountered a problem and needs to close."
So then I go to My Computer, and click on the D drive and click open, find
setup, and click open and I get this error:
".\AutoPlay\LangData\en_us\lang.dat" And the top of the box of this erros msg
says " Invalid Unicode file"

Whats wrong with my cd? Its basically new, we bought it, i installed it
once, then i recently restored the comp so i was gonna re-install it... nad
this happens.

This is what people responded with:

Hi

You try copying the contents of the Cd to a temporary folder on the Hard
disk and run setup from the temporary folder.
Sol one:---

TO do this
Open Mycomputer
Right click the cd drive Icon and select explore
When the window opens, copy everything in the window and paste it on any
folder on the HDD.

That did not work.

The other response was:

Are you closing all your backgrounnd apps as required? Or are you just
crossing your fingers and hoping for the best.

I did have everything closed.

Any other suggestions????

It looks like the Software CD is either faulty or the vendor has sold
you a pirated copy, in which case not all files were copied properly on
the CD.

I suggest contact Adobe direct via their webpage. Don't do anything
with your system because it can't be faulty especially when it is new.
My money is on the CD itself which looks like dodgy to me (not your
Cd-Drive).

We bought the program a few months ago, I installed it, no problems, I then
restored the comp so I was gonna re-install it again but then now it dont
work. How could the disc work the first time, but not the second?

CDs don't normally last for ever. They wear out! I always make copies
of Cds before doing anything thing just in case my system eats it! My
installation is always from these copies to check that they are copied
properly.

Is it likely that you are trying to install it on a system whose
language has changed? For example, from en-USA to en-UK! Although,
both countries use English, there are subtle differences such as
labor/labour or color/colour and computers treat them as such!

the error you get indicates that your system is fine but your CD is
missing some essential files namely language files. These software
companys make software for global market and so they need to have
special language files to accomodate non-english users. It makes life
easy to migrate to other languages.

I am sorry I can't help you further as I don't use the package you are
trying to install. Did you re-install the OS from the image files on
your system supplied by your computer vendor? If so then the language
should be the same as before. If you did it from OS CD then you might
not have selected the corret language. what do you get on he bottom
right corner of your task bar? Does it say En (United states) or En
(United Kingdom)?

It's not a Sony CD, is it?

Sounds like either a CD problem or a drive problem. Clean the CD with a soft
cloth and pure water, stroking from the center of the disk outward. Dry the
same way. Try again.

It could also be that the drive has problems. I smoke and the smoke
accumulates on the laser lens and causes me all sorts of problems.

And let us not discount the fact that your RAM could be at fault. Any time
you get unexplained errors, look to your RAM and bios settings. Have you
played around with over clocking the CPU? It can cause this problem with
unexplained errors and system freezes /crashes. BTW, RAM can go bad, just as
any other electronic device if it is subject to marginally specified
voltages.

Which brings us to your power supply! Swap it out with a new one of
sufficient capacity and quality to handle everything you have physically to
your computer.

If all of this sounds too daunting, take the computer to a professional who
will be able to do the swapping of suspected bad parts for you. You usually
only pay for labor and the actual part that fixed the problem.

Hi,

Using a soft lint-free cloth, wipe the surface of the CD clean in a circular
motion starting from the inner part to the outer. It sounds like the disk is
either scratched or dirty. You might also want to run a CD lens cleaner disk
through this drive. These cheap disks found at most electronics stores will
clean the dust and debris from the lens which might be getting faulty reads.

Try it on another machine- a friend, for example. That will tell you if the
fault is in the CD or your machine.
