Installing older version

John

Ok so it's suggested to install an older version of
Windows Messenger. A few questions:

(1) Doesn't this pose a possible security threat? I was
sent an alert by Microsoft to upgrade to ver. 4.7 because
of security threats to the previous version.

(2) If i decide to go back to a previous version, do i
have to first uninstall ver. 4.7?

Greetings John,

1 -- The last version of Windows Messenger 4.7 (which is on
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger/download.asp) does not have any known secure
holes. The SP2 version has more security features (it won't let you receive executable
files, etc.), but generally is the same.

2 -- Not at all, the older version will install on top.
