INSTALLING OLD SOFTWARE THAT LOADS OLD DRIVERS

I want to install some old game demos that are available on the web on my
Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop running Windows XP Pro with an NVIDIA GeForce4
4200 (Dell Mobile) (64MB). The Monster Truck Madness demo game that I want
to install was released in 1998, and the installer warns at the beginning
that it will load DirectX 2.0 drivers and other drivers relating to
graphics, and if I don't want my current drivers overwritten I should not
install the product. I am running DirectX 9.xxxx, the most current version,
and my graphics drivers etc. are all up to date. Will Windows XP permit my
current drivers to be overwritten if I install this software? Doesn't
Windows XP prevent programs from overwriting newer versions of installed
software and drivers with older versions? Does this feature work flawlessly
or is there a chance I might mess up my system? Will this Microsoft Monster
Truck Madness demo even work on Windows XP since it was written for Windows
98? Please reply. Thank you.

loading an old demo game on xp that is made for 98 is os
suicide,be prepared to restore to factory settings, when
you finish the install.

I have Windows XP home with directx 9 and can run the monster truck madness
demo quite happily.
best of luck
George
