Installing OL 2003 (Standalone) over Office/OL 2000

Currently have & use OL 2000 installed as part of Office 2000 package. Have
purchased OL 2003 (single application) to install to replace use of OL 2000.
Will installation of 2003 pickup my 2000 folders, messages, calendars, etc.,
or will I have to import something (pst file??) into 2003 after installed?

Also, I assume that since OL 2000 is an intergral part of Office 2000, that
it (OL 2000) will remain on my system (specifically, will NOT be "replaced"
by the OL 2003 installation). Is that correct?

Anything else I should be aware of in this specific 'upgrade'/installation?
Appreciate any advice or suggestions.

You won't have old Outlook after installing the new one since it is not an
integral part. And you won't be able to use Word as your email editor, since
versions must match. IMPORTANT: You also must custom install OL to a diff
folder--not the default MS Office folder--or it will corrupt your Office
installation. Your old pst files will be saved and you can open--not
import--and convert them to the newer format after installation. The
installation will tell you if you must uninstall old Outlook first.

Mary,

Didn't see your response and went ahead with standard install of OL2003. It
seemd to install perfectly.....located my old OL2000 pst file, settings,
accounts. I have seen no apparent conflicts with other Office2000
applications. What should I be on the lookout for?

I AM having another problem though. Can send mail perfectly but
RECEIVING/downloading from POP accounts is a big problem. It appears to be
downloading properly but it fails to download ALL messages.... then it cleans
ALL the messages off the server (as if it DID download them). So, I'm losing
messages. Have done everything I can think of to resolve this problem
without success.

Any ideas, suggestions?
