Installing new ws on NT 4.0 server

We have ordered a new Dell cpu with WIN XP Pro to replace one of the many
older cpus on our network.
This will be replacing an old one running Win98.
To properly install this, after I transfer the files off the old cpu, do I
hook the new Dell up to the network and then run the Network Setup Wizard?
Any do's or don't or things to watch out for?

Thanks all

Frank,

Is this a domain, or a workgroup? If a domain is involved, be aware of Windows
XP and domains:

With Windows XP, be aware of the impact of mixing it with Windows 98, and using
Network Neighborhood:

If you're going to be sharing files on it to other computers, be aware of the
possibilities:

Windows XP is backwardly compatible with Windows 98, but there are various
settings that you need to be prepared for. Read these articles, and ask
questions. The Network Setup wizard will get you started.

Hi Chuck

it's just a small workgroup of the server and 8 workstations. The new cpu
will not be sharing files with other computers.

So do I just run the network setup wizard to install this?

Thanks

Frank,

The NSW will load the network components, and make the basic settings for you.
Give that a shot, and if any complications, post back here.
