Installing is taking Forever! Enterprise Ed

I'm trying to install Vista Enterprise Ed (VL) on a Dell PC. The machine had
WinXP and the install was working fine, just thought we would give it a new
look.

Put in the Vista Disk1 CD and booted form it. Wiped out and formatted the
Main Partition. Then proceeded with the Install. Accept the EULA , etc..
Gets to the Copying Files and sits there. I see the ... after the % move,
though it takes maybe 5+ minutes for each %. Once it gets done with the 4
disks, it tries to Expand the files. After several hours yesterday of
expanding files it was only 22% done. Came back this morning and it said
the machine was rebooted and Install had to start over.

If I just let it reboot I get the win startup progress bar for a bit, blank
screen for 20+ minutes and come up with the same error saying that I need to
restart the install.

So I booted from CD again and am at square 1 with a few % of copying files.

It should not be taking this long. What can I do to trouble shoo this?

there maybe some hardware on your system that Vista doesn't like.
Vista should take no more than an hour to install.
You need at least one meg of ram and a good video card to get it to run up
to it's full potential.
