installing adobe reader

when i tried to install the latest adobe reader on my new computer i get an
error message which says "This file does not have a program associated with
it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options
control panel." "Unable to launch AOM file. Createprocess return
code:10741316". what does this mean and how do i fix the problem?

Hi Philip,

Sounds like the Adobe Reader installation failed.
Try to uninstall if possible in Control Panel | Software
Download reader again (previous download could be corrupted).
Re-install Reader.
Update reader.

pdf files should now have correct icons and associations.

Along the same lines, since the last updates a few days ago from the XP
autoupdate, Adobe Reader 7 fails to open properly in IE 6. 8 MS updates
were installed at that time. Adobe Reader 7 does work by itself. Since
that observation, an autoupdate also occurred last night with Adobe Reader
7, turned off PC last night afterwards. Adobe wants to reboot again this
morning. Haven't done that yet.

You probably should reboot and then, maybe, it will work.
