installing AD

I have a Windows 2000 server that does not have AD
installed. It does not authenticate users. I want this
server to start authenticalting users and I would also
like to install AD and DNS. Can I do this without having
to format and reinstall the OS?

Hi Suzanne,

You do not have to reinstall the OS. To promote your
server to a domain controller, run dcpromo (Start, Run,
type dcpromo and click ok). If you don't already have DNS
installed and configured, this can be done during the DC
promotion. It will create your active directory dns zone.
