Installing / Activating Language Packs without Windows XP CD

A

Ali Khan

Hi,

I would be greatly thankful if someone could help me.

I bought my laptop from BestBuy almost 3 years ago. They never gave me
Windows XP CD.

Recently, I needed to do some work in Urdu, national language of Pakistan,
and whent I tried to install the language pack / activate the language by
going to:

Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages > Install
files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai)

it wouldn't simply let me do anything without a CD.

I have genuine Windows XP installed on my laptop and I did get in-touch with
Toshiba Sattelite Support and they claim that I should be getting in-touch
with Microsoft.

I have upgraded my Windows XP to Service Pack 3.

Please, help me in due course if you can.

Thanking you in anticipation and looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards.

Sincerely,

Ali Khan

I have the same problem. If you have an idea, it would be too appreciated
any help. My laptop was casually bought in the same store 3-4 years ago and
received without a Windows CD. Only Restore CD.

Thanks,
Rabij

just install the urdu phonetic s/w ( it is available on the net). then do
these steps

control panel > regional and language options > languages tab > details >
add > input language (select english uk or english us) > keyboard layout /
IME > (here select your installed urdu phonetic)

it will work InshALLAH
