I am having major trouble upgrading the ME edition that came on my computer,
My mother bought me the XP Home Edition, she used it first, and now when I
try to upgrade I am not being able too. When I get the screen that asks
What would you like to do, I click on Install XP, but nothing happens,
someone please help me I am going crazy trying to figure it out, Im ready
to pull out my hair.

"she used it first" ?!
If that means 'she' has installed it on another system then you have no
licence to install it on a second sys.

1. You cannot install Windows XP if it is already installed on your
mother's computer. You need to purchase another copy for your computer.

2. Run the Windows XP Upgrade Advisor.

You get a licence to install on one computer with XP, not two computers.

There are different versions of XP. It sounds like *her* copy is not for
upgrading *your* OS, but is a copy foe a fresh install only.

There is an easy solution- go to a shop and buy the upgrade version- that
way your mother will continue to be able to get the OS upgrades from MS as
well as stay legal. And you will be able to get those important security
upgrades too, and be legal. Or stick with ME.

Hope you thanked mom for buying you that.
If you set bios to boot from CD think it will check your system for xp
compatibility and you might want to consider the format and fresh install
option, to start off spring clean and fresh .. If you can, I'd suggest
check your computer makers site for updated BIOS first - some older BIOS
don't like XP.
