installing a second hard drive

I have an HP Pavilion, AMD 2600 with a 120 gig drive. I have another 80 gig I
would like to install just for our art stuff which has filled the main drive.
The tower has the ribbon and space for a second HDD, but I cant get the
computer to recognize it. All instructions I find use a regular XP windows
disc but mine was pre-installed and I only have the silly restore disks. I
have looked thru the minimum bios settings they show and there is nothing in
there to change. I tried cmd-bootcfg.exe, but get "not a valid program". Is
it possible to add the second hdd on this system? or am I stuck until I get a
"real" xp disk? And would that even help with the bios thats here?

Partition and format the disk using DISK MANAGEMENT .

Hi,

Check your system configruation first and find out whether you
motherboard and BIOS support this much of GB.

If ok need not worry install the HDD as slave in primary motherboar
slot or as Master in secondary motherboard slot,

make the BIOS configruation to auto detect the HDD,save it.

format and partision the new 80GB HDD and use.

Perhaps you should have looked at win help,
It would have pointed you to Disk Management
