installing a hitachi hdd

I'm building a totally new sys

I have 4 --250 gb sata Hitachi hdd's that I want to use as a raid strip and
mirror sys
I'm building a totally new sys
I cant get win xp pro to recognize any of the hdd's -- I have used their
feature tool to set the hdd's but win refuses to recognize them. I thought
it was a bad device driver at first--

Assuming you have followed mobo instructions re raid, perhaps you need to F6
early in the win installation process to install raid drivers from floppy?
Maybe also you are using an early version winxp cd that doesnt support big
Lba

I dont know what you mean by 'their feature tool' if you mean a tool to
format/partition a disk dont use it, use the winxp installation disk tools.

Well youre way off course to begin with....Does the board support 4 SATA
drives in a RAID configuration,if so did you make a RAID
configuration,probably
not...Is the board set up for RAID in the BIOS,by default they usually are
not...
Once all is set up,you need to press F6 when booting to xp cd for
installation,
this gets the RAID controller drivers available to xp for xp to detect the
RAID
configuration..P.S. Read the owners manual before you start a project,not
after all fails to work right.
