Installing a DHCP Server on a remote additional domain controller

D

Dan Williams

I've recently setup an additional domain controller to our Small
Business 2000 server in a remote office via a VPN ADSL link.

Our SBS network is setup as a DHCP server with a subnet scope of
192.168.0.

I wanted to install a DHCP server on our remote additional domain
controller so that it gave out IP addresses in the scope 192.168.13.

However, i'm getting DhcpServer 1051 Event ID's, saying 'The DHCP/BINL
service has determined that it is not authorized to service clients on
this network for the Windows domain: <domain name>.'

Is there anyway i can have more than one DHCP server on the same
domain?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Dan Williams.

Yes,
In the DHCP snap-in on the new DHCP server, authorize the server. (you must
be logged on as a member of the Enterprise Administrators group to do this)

Dan,

As Adam stated, you need to authorize DHCP in WIN2000 before it will be
allowed to pass out IP Address leases.
