Installing 64 bit over 32 bit?

Hi,

I have just received the 32 bit upgrade of home premium and am waiting for
the 64 bit dvd from Microsoft. Can I go ahead and install the 32 bit version
now and then install the 64 bit over it when it arrives or will this mess
things up.

I do of course have a 64 bit processor!

Thanks for your help (can't wait to get started),

Chris

No you will have to do a clean install with the x64 version. You cannot do
an in place upgrade.

You're license entitles you to run the 32-bit version now, then migrate to
the 64-bit version when it arrives.

But can you simply, 'upgrade' to the 64-bit version when it arrives? No. A
migration path is not supported. You will have to install the 64-bit version
'clean'. But if you have an external location, e.g. network share, USB
external HDD or somesuch, you might consider what Windows Easy Transfer can
do.
