installing 3010 beta

Bob

I've been trying to install the beta (on windows 7 with 2010 prof. plus) but
it says my setup won't allow. It's also trying to install norton add on,
which won't run because I dont use Norton security products. Do we have to
have Norton in order to try this beta? Seems very odd to me.

Office 2010 Professional Plus ? Where did you get that Beta version from. That is a
VL version and should or should I say that it is not a public download as is the one
available to the public since a few days

No , Norton is not necessary and if I recollect correctly you can omit the Add On on
installation

I'm afraid I wasn't offered the opportunity to refuse Norton. It reports
that it is incompatible with my operating system (W7), the set up closes
down. At first, I thought this maybe becauseI'm a UK user, rather than US,
and perhaps this was country limited (a rather offensive MS trick). However,
I found the download on the UK technet site but still had the same problems.

Bob, why don't you download the Beta version through the Microsoft
Download Center? Business Contact Manager 2010 Beta is a separate
download from the regular Office 2010 Beta download anyway, so I
suppose you should be free from this technical restriction.
The only thing you need to pay attention to is the version of your
Office 2010 Beta -- there is a specific version of Office that
Business Contact Manager 2010 Beta needs to be able to work with. If
I recall correctly, it is 14.0.4536.1000. If your pukka download
offers a different version, Business Contact Manager 2010 Beta may or
may not work even after being installed successfully.

Hope that helps,
John

Thanks John. My version is 14.0.4514.1004 and yes, I have tried to download
BCM from the Download Center but I get the same problem - the Norton add on
starts and then says it doesn't support the OS. The installation then shuts
down. Very frustrating!!

Bob.
