Installing 2 XP on different HD (second posting)

Hi

I have XP Pro SP1 on my first HD and XP Family on the second one.

I want to install Pro on to the second HD but the choice of which HD to
install on doesn't come up.

In the past, when I installed Family on both HD's , the choice was offered.

But XP Pro only seems to offer me an installation/repair on the first HD.

What can I do to get round this problem?

Maybe if you launched the installation from within Windows, as
a new install, you will have the possibility of choosing destination
folder c:\windows will be present folder; make new folder
d:\windows.

Hopefully, boot.ini will register both.

Hi

I've now tried this and the result is 'indecisive'.

I launched the CD from within Windows with the program on the 2nd HD where I
want to reinstall XP Pro.

The problem is that Windows takes over and I start to go through the stages
until I get to a point where continuing looks like it is going to install XP
Pro and I still haven't chosen where.

Maybe if I go on, I'll get the choice but maybe I won't and I'll lose my
first installation on HD 1.

So I chickened out.

I'm now thinking about disconnecting HD1 so that Windows can only install on
HD2 but that'll probably have
an adverse effect on the lettering of my drives when I reconnect HD1.

Can anyone advise me please?
