Installer Quits Unexpectedly

Whenever I try to install any application that uses the
windows installer, it will quit unexpectedly before the
program can be installed. For example, I just tried to
install TweakUI for windows xp, but when the installer
loads, it just dissappears. This happens for every
program that I try to install.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Dusty,

Common installation problems are usually cured by restarting the machine,
then....

1) Delete the contents of the temp folders, there may be a file in there
interfering with the setup routine of the installer. Get both:

C:\Windows\temp
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\local settings\temp

2) Turn off all other running programs, especially your antivirus software.
Use ctrl+shift+escape, if necessary, to "end task" on everything.
