I have windows 98. I bought and installed xp for students and teachers. I
thought this would make my os xp but it still runs in 98. How do I upgrade
to xp or should I just be happy I can use the xp office programs?

If I understand you correctly you purchased Office XP (AKA Office 2002)
for Students and Teachers. Office XP is a suite of programs consisting
of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other programs which vary from Office
package to Office package it is NOT and operating system. This is the
last version of Microsoft Office that will run on Windows 95, 98, 98SE
and ME. The latest Office (MS Office 2003) requires the Windows XP
operating system or Windows 2000 SP3 to run.

Windows XP is an operating system based on the Windows NT Kernal,
Widows 95, 98, 98SE and ME are interfaces to a DOS based Kernal.

If you wish to run Windows XP you have to purchase a copy of that
operating system.
