Installed Xbox 360 controller, now when it's plugged in no sounds will play

I installed the Xbox 360 wired controller software from
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/gaming.mspx and now whenever I plug
the controller in, I hear no sounds from the computer, except out of Winamp.
I tried windows media player, and going through the run prompt and using
dxdiag to test the sound, but none of it works until the controller is
unplugged. Because the sound works properly from Winamp, I am thinking that
the problem may be some kind of conflict between DirectX input and DirectX
sound. I don't know if it helps, but I have version 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) of
Direct X.

Okay, I played around a bit more, and I found out that when the xbox 360
controller is plugged in, it creates a new sound tab in the DirextX
Diagnostic Tool program (dxdiag). The new sound tab is called Sound 1, and it
is for the headset port on the xbox 360 controller. If I have the headset
plugged in, I can hear all the sounds through it, but I want the sound to
come through the computer's speakers...

Okey, I continued playing around, went to sounds and audio devices, and found
out that for some reason my main audio output was set to Xbox 360 controller
instead of my sound card. Problem fixed!
