I wasn't having any problems until I upgraded to WMP version 10. Now I can
hear basic computer sounds, like my IM chime, startup and shutdown tones and
when I click on links. Anything else I can't hear. When I load my CD's I
can see that something is playing but I get no sounds, same for my games and
Napster stuff.

Double click on the loudspeaker icon in the systray. Make sure nothing is
checked (apart from the mike) and that the sliders are up to max.

Also, Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio and make sure
your soundcard is selected.

Its probably the first thing.

Cheers,

Hi Tracy
I have the very same problem in Media Center since upgrading to WMP version
10, i.e. no music & no radio. I receive an error message "To play music in
Media Center, install Windows Media Player 9 or repair your current
installation. The strange thing is that when I enter Windows Media Player via
the Start Menu's everything operates perfectly.I also need a solution, please
help.
