Installed firewire 1394 pci card - now get error message" LAN Cable Unpluged"

I just installed a PCI firewire 1394 card. Upon restarting I get an error
message stating "a network cable is unplugged". I plugged another computer
into the same Cat 5 cable and was able to connect to the internet. Any idea
on why the firewire card has disrupted my Ethernet card's connection to the
network. How do I get it back on line?
Thanks

When you install a FireWire card, Windows XP automatically creates a
"1394 Connection" for networking via FireWire. The "unplugged" message
is probably for the new 1394 connection, not for the Ethernet
connection.

Since you're not using the 1394 card for networking, go to
Control Panel > Network Connections and disable the 1394 Connection.
