Installed a new Mainboard, now XP Pro will not complete boot..

I just installed a new mainboard on my computer.
Now my existing Hard Drive with Windows XP Professional resets and then
re-boots during the startup process.
In Safe Mode it looks like the last driver it hangs on before it resets is
an ALI driver.
The Old mainboard did use an ALI chipset.
The New mainboard uses an SIS chipset.
My guess is that it is loading the old ALI Chipset driver, and the new SIS
mainboard can't recover, so it simply reboots.

Question:
Is there anyway I can remove the ALI driver on my Hard Drive, so windows
will continue to boot ?
I'm assuming it will then load the new SIS drivers them ?

Last resort I can plug the Hard Drive back in to my Old Mainboard if needed
boot up, and then remove the ALI drivers if this would help ?

Any suggestions would be very appreciated..

Thanks in advance..

Thanks, Jupiter.
Is this what you are suggesting below ?
I just want to be VERY VERY SURE, that this will not destroy all my programs
and data.

Please advise if this will fix my problem, and not cause any program or data
loss.
Thanks,
Phil
How to Do a "Repair Installation":

Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive. For more information
about how to do this, please refer to your computer's documentation or
contact your computer manufacturer.

Insert your Windows XP compact disc (CD) into your CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM
drive, and then restart your computer.

(You can also boot with a Windows 98/Me Startup disk with CD support and run
WINNT.EXE in the I386 folder on the CD)

When the "Press any key to boot from CD" message is displayed on your
screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.

When you see the following message displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen,
press ENTER:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.

At this point an option to press R to enter the Recovery Console is
displayed. Do not select this option.

On the Windows XP Licensing Agreement screen, press F8 to agree to the
license agreement.

Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the
box, and then press the R key to repair Windows XP.

Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

Windows XP may not function with a different set of hardware - especially
one that controls so much - without a repair install being performed:

Perform a REPAIR install:

or

Thanks Shenan, and Jupiter..
I feel better now, looks like this should repair the problem.
Just don't want to loose all my programs..

Again many thanks..

I don't think it's been mentioned so far; be aware that it will install XP
back to its 'ex CD' state - you will need to reinstall SP1 and all Hotfixes
again.

Ouch !! I was not aware of that..
Oh well I have Comcast, so it will not take to long to download all those
upgrades again.
Still much better than re-installing all my programs again.
Thanks for the update JohnF...

Be sure to turn on your firewall before ever connecting back to the Internet
with your repaired XP installation.
Infection with Blaster/Sasser takes less than a minute.

Greetings --

Normally, and assuming a retail license (many OEM installations
and licenses are not transferable to a new motherboard - check yours
_before_ starting), unless the new motherboard is virtually identical
(same chipset, same IDE controllers, same BIOS version, etc.) to the
one on which the WinXP installation was originally performed, you'll
need to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, at
the very least:

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade of Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=KB;EN-US;Q315341

As always when undertaking such a significant change, back up any
important data before starting.

This will also require re-activation, unless you have a Volume
Licensed version of WinXP Pro installed. If it's been more than 120
days since you last activated that specific Product Key, you'll most
likely be able to activate via the internet without problem. If it's
been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
