I currently have Home XP and am planning on installing Professional XP on my
computer, is there anything I should know before I begin? Also, how many
computers can I install XP Professional on?

Hi,

Your WinXP Pro disk must be at the same service pack level as your current
installation is. If it is not, you will need to either uninstall the service
packs so they match, or create a slipstreamed Pro disk with the same service
pack level. You will find instructions here:
http://www.theeldergeek.com/slipstreamed_xpsp2_cd.htm

Other than that, normal backup warnings still apply, even though most are
uneventful.
Also, how many computers can I install XP Professional on?

One per copy, same as Home.

First run the File and Settings Transfer Wizard to retain your current
settings and if desired, your files. It can be found in
Programs->Accessories->System Tools.
Maybe I'm not understanding your question, but unless you have a volume
license, it is one license per machine.
