I just installed an OEM version of XP Home with Windows 98 running. It
installed it on drive E instead of C and when I turn on the computer and go
into XP, none of my programs are there on the Start:All Programs list. Is
there a way to pull them all over or do I have to re-install XP and put it on
drive C, or.... any help would be appreciated.

Because an OEM CD cannot be used to perform an in-place upgrade, you
created a dual-boot configuration. To use your applications from within
WinXP, you'll need to install them from within WinXP. If you don't want
a dual-boot, then you'll need to boot from the WinXP CD, format the hard
drive, and then re-install the OS and any desired applications. You'll
want to back up any important data first, of course.

It sounds like you thought you were doing an upgrade from 98 to XP. But
clearly what you did is create a dual-boot situation, with 98 and XP side by
side. That's apparent for two reasons: OEM versions can't do upgrades and XP
is on E: rather than C: (presumably 98 is still on C:.)

So XP doesnt have any of the previously installed applications installed
within it and none of them will work unless youi elect to boot to 98. You
can still access data files on C:, but not programs.

You should have bought an Upgrade version, rather than an OEM version, but
what you probably should do now, since your version is OEM, is back up all
your data to external media like CDs, format the drive and do a clean
reinstallation of XP, then reload your data backups and reinstall all your
apps.

To do a format and clean reinstallation, just boot from the Windows XP CD
(change the BIOS boot order if necessary to accomplish this) and follow the
prompts for a clean installation (delete the existing partition by pressing
"D" when prompted, then create a new one).
