My PC has just been replaced, with a brand new custom build after an
insurance claim because I already owned a full version of Win XP home the O/s
was not replaced, can I re-install the version I own onto my new PC.

TIA

If the copy is a full retail version then yes. If, however, the copy came in
the form of 'recovery disks' then you will not be able to install xp because
the recovery disks are tied to the original machine.

Only if the CDROM does not say "OEM" or "For installation only with a brand
new PC". OEM should only be installed on the computer where it initially came
from.
