Installation problems

I've been trying to install Roxio Easy CD Creator 6 now
for nearly a month. One thing that various sources seem
to recommend is to reinstall the Windows XP installer.
I've see posts as to how to do this, but none of them have
resolved the problem. What is the best way to reinstall
the installer?

What exactly happens when you attempt to install Easy CD Creator 6?
